FAQs

+ What is the ordering process like?

First we settle on a design for the cake. Then we need the flavor and other small details. When we have the details we need we email the client an Order Summary to confirm the details. Once the order summary is confirmed we send an emailed invoice for the 50% deposit, which, once paid, secures the cake order on our calendar. Orders are not booked until the cake deposit is paid. For orders under $150 we take the full payment to book the cake.

+ Can I come and buy a cake or cupcakes in your store today?

No, we do not have a retail store, or baked items available to buy. Everything we make is custom ordered in advance. Prior to holidays we open for retail business, and have Flash Sales which are open to everyone - to get notifications of these, follow us on social media or subscribe to our email newsletter.

+ Are you nut free?

Yes! Our commercial kitchen in Harrington Park, NJ is nut-free. However we cannot gaurantee that ingredients we use have been processed in a nut-free environment, and they have not been sourced from nut-free environments. While we take every care to avoid any cross contamination, items baked in our kitchen are consumed entirely at the clients risk; we cannot take responsibility for any reactions to our products.

+ Can I do a tasting of your cakes?

Due to COVID precautions we have eliminated in-studio tastings. You may inquire about a tasting box. A tasting box for two guests costs $30 and if the booking is made (with a 50% deposit), the tasting fee is waived. To book a tasting box pickup, please email us. If you have any dietary restrictions, or would like to taste a particular kind of cake, please let us know when making the tasting appointment.

+ How far in advance should I book a cake?

We recommend booking at least 4 weeks in advance if possible. During peak seasons we book up fully for many weeks, so the earlier you book the better. For wedding cakes we recommend contacting us at least 6 months prior to your wedding date.

If you need a cake in short notice, contact us. If we can accomodate you, we will!

+ Do you make vegan or gluten free cakes?

Yes! Because we make our cakes from scratch, we can control everything that goes into them. We make delicious vegan and gluten free cakes, fully decorated like our other cakes. See our FLAVORS LIST for vegan and gluten free flavors currently available.

+ Do you deliver?

Yes! We deliver in Bergen County, Passaic County, Hudson County and Rockland County and all 5 boroughs of NYC. The price for delivery depends on the location - email us the location and date and we'd be happy to give you a quote.

+ What about event cancellations?

To book your order, The Cake Fairy LLC takes a 50% deposit. This deposit is not refundable if the event is cancelled within 8 weeks of your event date. If the event is cancelled over 8 weeks in advance of the event date, a partial refund will be provided, minus any fees and expenses incurred by The Cake Fairy LLC for the order.

+ How do I pay for my order?

The balance of the order is payable by credit card upon pick up, or 24 hours prior to delivery. Please note that we will not deliver orders that have not been paid for in full. Payment can be made by check or credit card. If a check is returned, the client is responsible for all fees and charges incurred by The Cake Fairy LLC.

+ What if I need to make changes to my order?

Once an order is made, the serving size cannot be reduced within 3 weeks of the event date. If the serving size is reduced, we will accomodate that size, but the price agreed upon will not change. Serving amounts provided by standard shape cakes are based on the wedding industry standard of eight (8) cubic inches of cake per serving: generally a 1 inch wide x 2 inch long x 4 inch high slice of cake. Three dimensional, carved cake serving amounts are estimated and are not guaranteed to be exact. All cakes will provide at least the industry standard size number of servings when properly served according to the industry standard size. The number of actual servings created during actual service of the cake cannot be guaranteed as methods of slicing, such as serving larger than then industry standard 1x2x4 size slice, or other preparations will affect the number of actual servings.

+ Can I use my own cake topper?

If the customer provides a topper we will place the topper on the customer’s cake as directed. Since this is done gratuitously The Cake Fairy LLC shall not be responsible for any damage to the cake or the topper while being placed, or while in storage at our studio.

+ Can I use fresh flowers on the cake?

Fresh flowers are placed on the cake entirely at the client's risk.

By booking a cake with fresh flowers with the Cake Fairy LLC, the Client acknowledges that fresh flowers are not a food product, and may contain pesticides, insects, dirt, or other contaminants and that some flowers and foliage are in fact toxic and/or poisonous. The Client is responsible for making sure that the flowers and foliage are safe to place on an edible cake, are free from any kind of chemicals/toxins, and will not result in chemical ingestion and/or poisoning of the guests.

If flowers are not available at a venue when we arrive with the cake, we will not be able to add them to the cake, and will not be required to wait until the flowers are delivered. It is the Client's responsibility to ensure that the flowers will be at the venue prior to the agreed-upon delivery time slot.

+ What are the delivery and pickup policies?

A delivery fee is charged depending on the location of the delivery, taking into account distance, tolls, cost of gas etc. This fee will be added to the final cost of the cake. Should the date, time or location of the event change, the Client must notify The Cake Fairy LLC immediately. Deliveries shall be made within a period of time agreed to in the Order Summary.

+ What are policies and procedures for cake display setup at the event?

If the Client elects to pick up and set up the cake, the Client assumes all responsibility for the integrity of the cake once it passes into the Client’s possession. The Client waives all claims against The Cake Fairy LLC for any problems or issues that may develop with the cake after is has been transferred to the Client or the Client’s agent.

After delivery and/or setup is complete, The Cake Fairy LLC is not liable for any damage to the cake regardless of the cause of the damage, including, but not limited to, cake spoilage or melting that may occur due to temperature (preferred temperature is 70 degrees or below), weather conditions, failure of the Client to provide a temperature-controlled environment, and/or failure to properly store and display the cake. The client is responsible for providing an appropriate and secure table and environment for the cake.

+ Photography Use and Privacy Information:
